Dear Parents,
January has been a long, dark and wet month but as we move towards February hopefully the lighter mornings and evenings are on the way.
Staffing Update
I wanted to inform you of an important staffing change. Mrs Kearton, our office manager, has secured a new job and will be leaving us at half term. I am sure you will all join me in wishing her all the best for the future and thanking her for her contribution to Fishwick.
Free School Meal Holiday Vouchers
Please read the below information regarding the vouchers that are sent home to families, entitled to free school meals, in the school holidays.
We have been informed that The Household Support Fund will cease from 01 April 2026 and will be replaced with the Crisis & Resilience Fund. There is no provision for holiday time free school meal vouchers to be issued under the Crisis & Resilience Fund. This means holiday time free school meal vouchers will no longer be allocated to eligible pupils from 01 April 2026. As such, after the Easter holidays, vouchers will no longer be assigned to families.
This is all the information we have been given by the local authority. As soon as we receive more information, we will pass it on.
Governors
We currently have a vacancy for a parent governor. This needs to be a parent connected to school so any of our parents or grandparents are eligible.
School governors are volunteers who help us to run the school. They’re involved in decisions about all aspects of managing the school – such as running buildings and budgets, supporting staff and setting standards of school behaviour.
Governors also help to make big decisions about the school’s long-term goals. They support headteachers but also ask questions and make sure the headteacher is taking the school in the right direction. If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact me for more information.
End of Term
School will close for the half term holidays at 3.15pm on Friday 13th February. We will re-open at 8.45am on Tuesday 24th February.
