This week in Well-being we talked about stress — what it means to us, whether everyone feels it the same way, how our bodies react to it, and ways we can feel less stressed. The children’s input and examples of stress-related situations were fantastic, with lots of thoughtful ideas shared about what makes us feel stressed and how we can calm ourselves down. For our activity, we used air-drying clay (Well-being’s favourite resource!) to create our own stress balls. They could be any colour or pattern, as long as they fit comfortably in our hands. Trying to make them perfectly round was stressful — but we managed to make some wonderful ones in the end!

This is our first week back in school and what a week it has been! We have been learning new vocabulary; how to follow instructions; all about similarities and difference between ourselves and our friends. The most exciting part was learning all about different animals and if things were alive, dead or never alive.

This week we have been so busy! We have learned to roll a ball! We wrote an I can see poem on a pumpkin. To do this we smelt and tasted a pumpkin. We looked at the UK and located the four countries. Since we wont be here for Halloween this year we even made spooky potions in class. This week it was Diwali, We made Diwali cards to celebrate the festival of light.

This week in Wellbeing Club, we completed a Positivity Alphabet! Each person worked hard to think of positive words beginning with every letter of the alphabet. It was lots of fun and really got everyone thinking creatively and sharing uplifting ideas together. Afterwards, we went on to create our very own Gratitude Doodles. Each child chose one of their positive words as the centre of their doodle and decorated around it to express their creativity and individuality. To finish the session, we took part in a calming activity called the Sound Map. This is a wonderful way to relax and focus on the present moment. The children closed their eyes for two minutes and listened carefully to the sounds around them. When the timer finished, they wrote down everything they had heard — no matter how big or small — helping them to notice and appreciate the world around them.

This week in Well-being Club, we began by recapping last week’s session, “Dear Future Me.” After our discussion, the children completed worksheets exploring things that help their well-being (positive) and things that can hurt their well-being (negative). Following this activity, the children reflected on their answers and discussed what they had learned about their own well-being. Each child then chose a Well-being Pledge, a personal goal or action to help them feel more positive in the upcoming week. To finish, the children enjoyed a creative activity where they made their own Well-being Buddies out of air-dry clay, designing unique little figures to remind them of their pledge and to bring comfort and positivity throughout the week.

Fun and learning in nursery! We have been building friendships learning to share and take turns with toys and resources. We have been drawing and writing using different colours and creating different lines and shapes. Some of the children have a passion for animals and have created a zoo, making separate enclosures for different animals.

Well-being Club Update – This Week's Activities 1st Oct 2025

This week in Well-being Club, the children engaged in a reflective activity by writing a "Letter to Future Me." This thoughtful exercise encouraged them to think about their goals, dreams, and what they hope to achieve as they grow. It was a lovely way for them to connect with their future selves and set positive intentions. Following this, the group had an open discussion about things that can make them feel sad. A common theme that emerged was bullying, which many children identified as something that would deeply affect their happiness and confidence. In response, the children decided to take action by creating anti-bullying posters to display around the school. These posters carry powerful messages promoting kindness, inclusion, and standing up for one another, helping to spread awareness and foster a safe, supportive school environment. We're proud of the children's honesty, empathy, and creativity in tackling such an important topic!

We had another wonderful visit from Stef the dog this week. The children always look forward to reading with her, and it's heartwarming to see how engaged they are when sharing their books. Stef is a brilliant listener, and the children love rewarding her with a treat for her excellent listening skills. It’s a special experience that brings joy, builds confidence, and encourages a love of reading.

This week in Wellbeing Club, we explored a range of scenarios that encouraged the children to think about what they would do in different situations and how they could support others. The children gave thoughtful responses and showed great empathy, offering kind and practical advice. It was wonderful to see them engaging so positively in meaningful conversations with each other, building their confidence and emotional awareness.

In Geography, we have been learning about fieldwork and using compasses outside to navigate directions. In PE we have been doing Max Whitlock Gymnastics, being able to travel in different ways and practicing forward rolls with different landings. In science, our topics is Rocks and we have been categorising rocks into metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary. In Art, we have been drawing and painting inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, using new techniques such as impasto, tonking and sgraffito producing and imaginary creature. In English, we have produced our own Losing Tale and started with a hot seating task interviewing characters.

This week in well-being club, we got creative and made our very own worry stones. The children shared some little things that can sometimes make them feel worried, and together we talked about how a worry stone can help. With a squeeze or a rub or just keeping it in their pocket, the worry stones can remind them they are not alone and that worry's don't have to feel so big. Well done to all the brilliant worry stone makers!
