Year 1 - Gorillas
We would like to give you a huge welcome to the children and parents of Gorillas class.
The children in Gorillas class are taught by Mrs East with the support of Mrs Flynn-Stanley, Mrs Cooper and Mrs Trafford.
In Year 1 we are passionate about education and the use of learning through play. We incorporate play based learned with the national curriculum to ensure that all children progress and can learn in a way that suits them.
This year we will be building on all the amazing skills the children learned in Reception class. We use a mixture of whole class learning and group work to provide all the children what they need. By the end of this year, we hope that children will be taught as a whole class to equip them for Year 2.
The School Day
Our morning usually focuses on Phonics, Maths and Literacy and then in the afternoon other subjects such as PE, Computing, RE, History, Geography, Science, Art and DT. We finish the day with our daily celebrations and a story.
We have PE each week on a Monday and Tuesday. Please can all children have a full named PE kit in school every day. They will need black pumps, black PE shorts and a house coloured school PE T-shirt inside a named bag.
Our First Week in Year 1
This week in Year 1 we have enjoyed exploring our new classroom!
We have also been learning about the 7 continents.
We really enjoyed Art!
We explored different tools for mark making and used them on different textured surfaces.
